  • General

Ysgol Friars has two canteens, so if you only want a snack and the main one is busy, you can go to the other.

If you’re going to have a school meal, you don’t have to pay for it with cash over the counter.  You’ll need to put your money on your dinner card at a swipe machine and then use your card to pay.  The cost for a full meal is currently £2.60.

If a pupil has no lunch card then they will not be able to obtain products from the canteen. Replacement cards cost £2.50; please see canteen staff for a replacement card.

If you want to bring a packed lunch, that’s fine. You can sit at any table with your friends.

    • Lunch - time Arrangements

      1. For their own benefit pupils in Years 7 and 8 are required during the lunch hour :

      a)      to go home (or to an adult relative) for lunch or

      b)      to take lunch at school (cash-cafeteria system) or

      c)      to bring their own food to eat at school

      2.  The Group Tutor must be informed if a child wishes to change his or her lunch time arrangements. Parents/Guardians must submit a formal request to the Year Team Leader if they wish their child to go home for lunch.

      3.  More senior pupils are given greater flexibility. Throughout the school, pupils leaving the premises at lunch-time become the responsibility of parents/guardians until the end of the lunch period.  At school a team of supervisors are on duty during the lunch period.

      4. The school has introduced a swipe card system for use in the school’s canteens at morning break  and lunchtime.  Parents/Guardians can pay by cheque (made payable to Gwynedd County Council) or on line through the ParentMail system.  Alternatively pupils can credit their cards with cash using machines in school.  There will be a replacement fee for any card lost
