    • Science Technician

      This is a full time Science technician post (during school term times) that has recently become vacant.

      The successful applicant will be required to: • Prepare science equipment, materials and experiments to support teaching and learning in a large, successful and well equipped Faculty in an 11-18 secondary school. • Undertake routine basic maintenance of science laboratories, preparation rooms and equipment, and carry out any additional work as requested by the Head of Science. Training and support for career development will be available subject to the needs and the resources of the school.

      The successful candidate should: 

      • Be a well-qualified graduate with a good honours degree in English based subject and a PGCE or other recognised teaching qualification in English 

      • Have experience of teaching and inspiring pupils across the secondary age and ability range to learn effectively and produce work of a high standard, using assessment to inform future planning of pupils’ work

       • Be an energetic, innovative and enthusiastic teacher with a thorough knowledge of the National Curriculum, and with the ability to motivate and interest pupils of all abilities 

      • Have a very clear understanding of the Literacy and Numeracy framework and its application across the curriculum as well as an awareness of the Digital Competency Framework 

      • Show evidence from teaching or teaching practice of the ability to elicit work of a high standard from pupils of different ages and abilities

       • Be able to work independently and as part of a team, seeking advice when necessary 

      • Have a broad experience of teaching and inspiring students across the secondary age range to learn effectively and produce work of a high standard, using assessment to inform future planning

       • Be a sound classroom manager with the skills needed to create a climate in which effective learning can take place

       • Be a good administrator who can ensure the effective and timely completion of tasks, the writing of reports, maintenance of records etc.

       • Be able to contribute to the effective delivery of cross-curricular strategies such as those in numeracy, literacy and ICT.

       • Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development 

      • Excellent attendance and punctuality record Applicants must have qualified teacher status.

      Required for September 2019, an enthusiastic teacher to join the Art and Design Faculty at Ysgol Friars.

      We have a temporary opportunity for an innovative, talented and ambitious teacher of Art and Design to cover maternity leave. 

      The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of the National Curriculum in Art and Design, be capable of teaching Art and Design to pupils of all ages and abilities at Key Stages 3 and 4, as well as the ability to motivate pupils, stimulate an interest in Art and Design, and able to work as part of a team and to show initiative. The successful candidate will also be contributing to the teaching of Design Technology (predominately Food Technology and Textiles at Key Stage 3).

      Emphasis is placed on high expectations and we have a well-developed system of pupil support and pastoral care. 

      The school is popular with parents because of its orderly environment.
